According to the Boy Scouts of America, "The district membership committee is primarily responsible for (1) the relationship with community organizations, (2) the organization of new units in order to provide opportunity for youth membership growth, and (3) youth recruitment."

The South Mountain District Membership Committee is striving to serve the units and the youth of South Mountain in innovative ways.
